I am not typically a fan of apple pie, but I make an excaption for this one. Seriously. It's that good. The recipe is a bit unconventional; you press the crust instead of rolling it. And you bake it in a brown paper bag. I don't know what the bag does, but the pie comes out deliciously, so I've never felt like testing it without the bag.
Crust:
1 ½ cups flour
1 ½ tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
½ cup oil
2 tbsp cold milk
- Mix together. Press into pie pan
Filling:
4 cups apples
2 tbs flour
½ cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 ½ tsp nutmeg
- Mix ingredients, then add apples.
Topping:
½ cup flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup cold butter
- Mix together and sprinkle over apples.
Put in a brown paper bag, seal with staples. Bake for 90 minutes at 350 degrees.
Mmmm. Carmelly, crumbly, and delicious.
